About the Role
We are seeking a dependable Tractor Driver for our overnight field operations. This position plays a key role in supporting row crop applications by operating tractors and equipment to apply liquid fertilizers, dry fertilizers, and crop protection products in the field. The Tractor Driver is responsible for operating tractors and related equipment to safely apply fertilizers and crop protection materials, mixing chemicals and fertilizers according to recommendations, transporting equipment to field sites, and assisting with loading materials needed for application. Tractor operators also help inspect and maintain equipment, follow all safety procedures, and support field crews to ensure applications are completed efficiently and safely.
This is an OVERNIGHT position and requires working night hours in outdoor environments.
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate safety gear for the chemicals that are being applied such as goggles, respirator, gloves, boots, helmet and coveralls in accordance with Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for the proper use, maintenance and care of all safety equipment.
  • Responsible for the safe transportation of Row Crop equipment to application site.
  • Responsible for the driving of company truck to transport equipment toll and supplies which includes loading and unloading tractor onto trailer to be towed to job site.
  • Responsible for the proper and safe transportation, handling and storage of Hazardous Materials and their empty containers.
  • Apply chemicals, fertilizer, (liquid and dry) to row crops using a tractor in a safe and efficient manner, meeting customer and company expectations.
  • Load and unload equipment, fertilizers and or chemicals needed to complete assigned job.
  • Make liquid truck, dry tender or pallet fertilizer deliveries.
  • Maintain and service assigned equipment including communicating equipment failures and needs to shop supervisor.
  • Work with all departments to help maintain cleanliness and order of the yard facility.
  • Inspect equipment daily and complete daily inspection logs properly and accurately.
 
Experience
  • Education and/or Experience-High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills-Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills-Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Valid California Driver’s Class A License with all required endorsements (Air brake, Tanker, and Haz-Mat).
  • Certified forklift operator.
  • Qualified Applicators Certificate (QAC) Helpful but not required.
